Child Learning Product Design and Development Services
Since the National Reading Panel's research compilation and recommendations
in Teaching Children to Read (National Reading Panel [NRP], 2000)
the world of early childhood education has undergone a great deal of change.
We can anticipate the changes and new developments to continue. Research
flurries in effective learning and teaching practices in not only reading
but also in mathematics and science are now beginning to result in a mounting
body of evidence that illustrates how young children learn, what learning
experiences will best prepare preschool and young elementary school age
children for the challenges that lie before them, and what types of strategies
and activities our early child learning materials should reflect. In the
United States, new preschool standards documents are emerging in rapid
succession, along with unprecedented financial support for the establishment
of new programs and learning centers at the state and local level. Other
countries (e.g., Canada and the UK), have experienced a similar increase
in public awareness and research focus. And now, though still in late
review, the most recent in a series of important constructsPre
K Standards: Guidelines for Learning and Teaching. There is no doubt
that 2005 promises to be a banner year!
At Designed
Instruction, our child learning specialists regularly dissect the research
and continually establish guiding design and development principles that
ensure that the instructional materials we develop are consistent with
new research findings, the most recent education standards, and the ever-changing
plethora of legislative requirements and recommendations for addressing
those requirements. If your organization develops learning products for
preschool or early elementary teachers and parentsthose who prepare
the students of tomorrowcan you afford less?
